Families feel anxious over Sacramento City schools distance learning schedule

Classes start at the Sacramento City Unified School District on Thursday. While the schedule for the first two days of the school year are set as transitional instruction days, the exact schedule for the rest of the school year has yet to be finalized, according to the district and teacher’s union. Late Monday night, the Sacramento City Teachers Association declared they are at an impasse with the school district over contract negotiations, including a couple of key distance learning issues: the required amount of live instruction and whether some lessons should be recorded so students can watch on their own time. According to Superintendent Jorge Aguilar, the district prefers students engage in at least an hour more of live instruction than the teachers union prefers. Get the full story in the video above.
