Families want Maryland 529 transferred to treasurer

Some families upset over issues with their Maryland 529 college savings accounts returned Tuesday to Annapolis to push the state treasurer to take over the program. Participants in the Maryland 529 plan said they're having trouble accessing their accounts and paying tuition. Parents said the value of their prepaid accounts decreased by as much as 50% because of a new method of calculating interest in the fund. On Tuesday, parents again made their case before lawmakers regarding the future of the controversial college savings plan. But this time, they went a step further.
