The family of missing Louisville mother Andrea Knabel confirmed Tuesday evening that the human remains found recently in Boyle County did not belong to her.

The family said they had been in contact with Kentucky State Police after the remains were found on Friday in case they belonged to Knabel.

KSP troopers were called to a scene in Perryville Friday night in reference to "possible human remains," and their initial investigation found "human skeletal remains" in a field off of Craintown Road, said Justin Kearney, a spokesperson for Kentucky State Police.

In a Facebook comment on the page "Finding Andrea," Erin Knabel, Andrea's sister, wrote her family reached out to state police after learning about the discovery.

"Remains were found on a farm and the woman seems to have been deceased for 3-5 yrs," she wrote. "... The detective working Andrea's case was made aware too. We will check back with them when they have more info. Dental records of Andrea's are similar to these remains."
