All in the family at ATT with Guerrieros, Silveiras and more. LFA, PFL MMA reap the benefits

All in the family at the award-winning American Top Team training center in Coconut Creek.

It is a team of many in a family atmosphere with two of those actual families showcasing two climbing MMA fighters.

Sal Guerriero and Josh Silveira.

The bantamweight Guerriero has a big fight in LFA in September, and the light heavyweight Silveira reached the PFL finals in November.

They grew up together as Josh’s dad, Conan, trained Sal’s dad and uncle in Brazilian jiu-jitsu in Miami.

Conan, an MMA pioneer, is co-founder and head coach at ATT, where Sal’s uncle Richie is an integral part of the Dan Lambert led facility. Richie, ATT’s general manager, and Lambert, ATT’s founder, met while training at Conan’s gym (Carlson Gracie inspired) in a small corner of a South Beach plaza.

They are seen regularly at ATT, running the gym and tracking the progress of all their fighters.

Big opportunity for Silveira

Here is my video interview with PFL MMA finalist Josh Silveira at American Top Team in (South Florida) Coconut Creek.

Silveira, who in just two seasons, reached the PFL finals, which are Nov. 24 in Washington D.C. If he wins the PFL light heavyweight title fight, he also earns $1 million.

His journey was a slow process, grinding it out on smaller shows. He then became a double champion in Legacy Fighting Alliance before deciding to sign with Professional Fighters League.

PFL offers a different format than the other MMA powers. The company conducts a regular season, followed by playoffs for those who qualify in various weight divisions. Each champion receives a title belt and $1 million. ATT boasts several PFL champions including Kayla Harrison, Raush Manfio and “Shoeface” Antonio Carlos Junior.

In his inaugural season with PFL (2022), Silveira replaced an injured Carlos Junior in the semifinals, where another ATT teammate, Omari Akhmedov, defeated him by unanimous decision. That marks Josh’s only loss as he is now 12-1, after going 2-0 in the 2023 PFL regular season and then beating Ty Flores with a multitude of knee strikes in the PFL semifinal.

In the PFL light heavyweight finals on Nov. 24, Silveira (12-1) faces Impa Kasanganay (14-3).

Making that battle even more exciting, Kasanganay trains at nearby Kill Cliff FC (formerly Sanford MMA and prior Hard Knocks 365) in Deerfield Beach.

The legendary Marcus “Conan” Silveira, who is an MMA pioneer and ATT head trainer and co-founder, will be in his son’s corner once again as they have developed a great working relationship along with a great family dynamic.

Here is my video interview with Marcus “Conan” Silveira at American Top Team in (South Florida) Coconut Creek.

Josh Silveira starred in wrestling at Barron Collier High School in Naples with Coach Joe Blassuci and Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale with Coach Frank Pettineo. He also wrestled and earned a degree from Arizona State University.

Big opportunity for Guerriero

Here is my video interview with up-and-coming MMA talent Sal Guerriero at American Top Team in (South Florida) Coconut Creek.

Guerriero, 27, is a graduate of (Fort Lauderdale-based) St. Thomas Aquinas High School, where he starred in wrestling. He is 6-3 in MMA and is preparing for his biggest fight to date for Legacy Fighting Alliance during LFA 168 on Friday, Sept. 22 at the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake, Minnesota.

LFA 168 will be broadcast live at 9 p.m. on UFC FIGHT PASS.

Guerriero fought in January on an AFL card, defeating Matthew Knauss by KO/TKO at 1:40 of the first round at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino near (South Florida) Hollywood.
