Military officials are investigating a deadly incident that took place Wednesday at Fort Stewart in southeastern Georgia.

A soldier, her husband and their two children were found dead in their on-base home on Wednesday, according to a statement issued by Fort Stewart Spokesman Kevin Larson. Their identities have not been released due to next of kin notification and privacy.

Fort Stewart Military Police found the family after requests for a welfare check were made by the soldier’s unit on Wednesday. Police arrived at about 2 p.m. and found the family unresponsive in the home upon making entry. They were pronounced dead at about 5:30 p.m. The manner of death was not disclosed.

"This is an isolated incident; there is no threat to the Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield community," Larson said.

The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by Fort Stewart law enforcement in partnership with the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division.

Fort Stewart is located a little more than 40 miles southwest of Savannah. Covering 280,000 acres, it's the largest Army installation west of the Mississippi River.
