On this special day honoring Holocaust survivors, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren gathered outside his 3rd floor apartment to show support for him, as a siren sounded to memorialize the deaths of 6 million Jews. Feinzilberg’s family was reportedly imprisoned in the Lodz ghetto at the start of WWII, where his father died. His mother and sisters were murdered at the Chelmno death camp and he was put on a cattle train and sent to Auschwitz, where more than one million Jews were murdered. Feinzilberg’s family, including 5 of his 19 great-grandchildren, took part in a nationwide campaign that called on the people of Israel to hold up signs in support of Holocaust survivors. One sign, written in Hebrew and given to Feinzilberg’s caretaker, reads: ‘Remembering close-by, embracing from afar.’ The average age of Holocaust survivors in Israel is 84,which puts them in the highest risk group for COVID-19. #covid19 #holocaust #survivor #coronavirus #holocaustremembranceday #News #NowThis #NowThisNews Connect with NowThis » Like us on Facebook: http://go.nowth.is/News_Facebook » Tweet us on Twitter: http://go.nowth.is/News_Twitter » Follow us on Instagram: http://go.nowth.is/News_Instagram » Find us on Snapchat Discover: http://go.nowth.is/News_Snapchat NowThis is your premier news outlet providing you with all the videos you need to stay up to date on all the latest in trending news.
