A four-year-old boy witnessed the wounding of two relatives

Russian forces injured a family with a 4-year-old child when shelling the community of Semenivka in Chernihiv Oblast, which is located on the border with Russia, regional governor Vyacheslav Chaus said on Telegram on Dec. 2.

The family came under fire when visiting the border village for the weekend to see a relative, Chaus said.

"The man suffered shrapnel wounds and received assistance at a local hospital,” the governor wrote.

“His daughter is being transported to the regional hospital, where she awaits surgery. Fortunately, the 4-year-old grandson was unharmed."

Chernihiv Oblast Police Department helped evacuate the injured and also reported the incident on Facebook.

The youngest child, who witnessed two relatives being injured, is receiving psychological support, law enforcement officials said. The boy's father has arrived to be with him.

This incident follows an earlier Russian shelling attack that resulted in one fatality in Donetsk Oblast.
