Family of LA-area woman found dead in Bakersfield seeks information to solve her murder

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — It was a gruesome discovery 4:58 a.m. Dec. 17, 2022 at the southbound Hosking Avenue offramp — Karla Terron, 27, never came home.

“Upon arrival officers discovered the deceased body of Karla Terron who was engulfed in flames,” Detective Joey Bravo with the California Highway Patrol said in a press conference Monday.

The coroner determined Terron was stabbed to death before her body was set on fire and dumped like trash off the shoulder of the highway. Sixteen months later, Terron’s family sought answers within a half-mile from where her body was found.

Now, the Hosking Avenue off ramp serves as a constant and painful reminder of Terron’s last terrifying moments alive.

“Karla Terron, my niece, like all of you, a good human being, a daughter, a mother, a mother of two children, did not deserve to have this done to her,” Pamela Rivera, Terron’s aunt, said.

Investigators say Terron was last seen alive at a bar on the 100 block of North Hagar Street in San Fernando about 90 minutes away from where her body was found.

“During this investigation it was discovered miss Terron was last at a location in Bakersfield prior to being discarded on the freeway,” Bravo said.

There are still no suspects, no motive, no date given for the last time someone saw Terron alive, and no more details. Terron’s family refuses to give up hope.

“Do it for yourself, your children, for us. For the pain we are going through all that pain we have been suffering,” Terron’s aunt said.

Investigators ask anyone with information to call the LA Sheriff’s Department homicide bureau at 323-890-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). To stay anonymous, call CHP in Bakersfield at 661-396-6660.

“The only thing we ask for is justice for Karlita Terron,” said Rivera. “Justice for the family, justice for her children because nobody deserves to suffer this way. Nobody deserves death this way. Nobody deserves this.”
