Update: As of May 22, this GoFundMe was again accepting donations.

SHEBOYGAN – The family of a 25-year-old Sheboygan man who died after jumping into the Sheboygan River May 15 has created a GoFundMe page to help raise money to pay for his funeral expenses.

The GoFundMe was temporarily suspended but has been restarted.

The fund's goal is to raise $10,000. As of the morning of May 22, the fund had raised just more than $1,270. Money raised will be used to cover funeral costs including the funeral service, casket, cemetery plot and headstone, the GoFundMe page said.

Delila Yang, who created the page on behalf of her extended family, said Lee Lor was born in Fresno, California, on April 19, 1998. He had eight siblings — five brothers and three sisters. He moved to Sheboygan in 2019 “to pursue greater opportunities,” the GoFundMe page said.

“Lee was well-known to be super patient, kind and helpful to many,” the page said. “Despite his own personal struggles, he showed remarkable selflessness by consistently prioritizing the needs of others over his own. Although he wasn’t without flaws, he embraced life with great excitement and held ambitious aspirations for a future he tirelessly pursued. Tragically, his untimely departure has left his dreams unfulfilled.”

Lor’s body was recovered from the river May 16 after a search started the evening of May 15 after a 911 caller reported a man took off his shirt at Rotary Riverview Park and jumped into the river.

The Sheboygan Fire Department said Lor’s body was discovered at approximately 10:45 a.m. May 16 after a Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ remotely operated vehicle found the body 12 feet below the surface and Sheboygan County divers retrieved the body.
