Family, pets escape house fire in Point Pleasant
POINT PLEASANT — A family and their pets escaped a house fire Sunday that erupted around 3 p.m. on Pleasant Place, according to borough police.
Arriving police evacuated neighboring homes as a precaution and closed a portion of Herbertsville Road while emergency responders fought the fire, according to Police Captain Adam Picca.
The residents of the home were not injured, but a neighbor who was outside at the time was treated for smoke inhalation, Picca said in a news release.
The Ocean County Fire Marshal deemed the fire not suspicious, but did not specify the origin, the police captain said.
Point Pleasant Fire Department Station 75 and Point Pleasant First Aid Squad 35 also responded to the scene.
Authorities declared the home uninhabitable.
