May 5—Med City diners can expect a new, family-focused restaurant with one of Rochester's largest patios to open this summer as work on Creative Cuisine's new Purple Goat Kitchen and Bar rolls nearer to the finish line.
While the pandemic has caused delays, work on the Northeast Rochester restaurant is rolling along. It is being built in space on the west end of the former Shopko North complex at 3708 U.S. 63 North. It is now anchored by Haley Comfort Systems.
Brothers David and Mark Currie hope to get the 6,700-square-foot restaurant open soon, though delays still make it difficult to narrow it down to a specific date.
Charles Morris will be general manager of Purple Goat. Walking through the construction on Tuesday, he described a welcoming "booth-heavy" dining area with fireplaces and TVs. It will also have a private party room that will seat 50 to 60.
One point of interest will be the chicken rotisserie, which will display roasting chickens for the diners.
"We'll be using that nice, juicy chicken in our salads, sandwiches and other dishes," said Morris.
The bar will seat 20 to 25. It will have a selection of tap beers and wines on its menu as well as a slate of creative signature cocktails.
Outside the restaurant, a partially covered 10,000-square-foot patio sprawls. When completed, it will feature fireplaces and heaters. There will be some play structures for children plus outdoor games like bean bags, a giant Connect Four and other activities.
There will also be a resort-style, concession service area on the patio, where guests can order and pick-up drives and food from a small stand.
While the opening is still a moving target, Morris and the Curries are optimistic the Purple Goat will be a bullseye for Rochester families.
