Family Support Services to host 28th annual Harley Party fundraiser

Family Support Services (FSS) is celebrating its 28th annual Harley Party, to be held Saturday, July 29 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Amarillo National Center, located at the Tri-State Fairgrounds at 3301 SE 10th Ave.

This year's grand prize will include the option of a 2023 Harley-Davidson Breakout 117, valued at $23,149, or a $15,000 Visa gift card. The motorcycle, like every other year, is donated to the charity event by Tripp's Harley Davidson of Amarillo.

"This year we have this beautiful bike, a Breakout, and from the tickets that we have sold, everyone is very excited for this bike. It is a very, very good bike," said Joette Campbell, Chief Development Officer for FSS. "We are excited to see the turnout this year; we know it will be a great event."

According to FSS, this is its major fundraising event each year, which raises as much as $120,000 with a total of 1,500 tickets sold and a crowd of more than 3,000 attendees annually.

"One ticket admits two people and includes all of their food and beverages," Campbell said. "The number of people in attendance hasn't grown for a while because of the limited number of tickets we offer, but overall, the event has come to include more over the years, with added food and volunteers. And how much we have been able to raise each year has grown as well."

With the funds raised from the event, FSS is able to provide services and needs not covered by the state and federal grants, including direct assistance, emergency basic needs, facilities maintenance, administration services and more.

The individuals FSS serves include victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, veterans, children and youth. The nonprofit organization also offers counseling services and prevention work for stalking, bullying, domestic violence, sexual assault, and other harmful incidents.

"Without the community's support through this event, there are a lot of things that we do for our clients that we would not be able to do, and we wouldn't be able to serve the people we serve, which is over 25,000 a year," Campbell said.

With the purchase of a Harley Party ticket, attendees can also buy a $20 ticket to participate in the group's Fun Run. As a part of the run, participants will have to make five stops throughout Amarillo beginning at Tripp's and ending at the Harley Party. The winners of the Fun Run will receive free tickets for next year's annual Harley Party. All Fun Run participants will also receive early admission into this year's event.

The winner of the motorcycle grand prize will be selected through a reverse drawing, with the last ticket to be called announced as the winner. In addition to the grand prize drawing, FSS will also have a Second Chance prize of a $1,000 visa gift card.

One ticket priced at $90 grants admission for the ticket holder and one guest with food, beverages and entertainment provided. Guest tickets can also be purchased for attendance but will not be included in the drawing for the grand prize or Second Chance prize. Additional Second Chance tickets will be sold for $5 each.

Tickets can be purchased in person before the event at Tripp's Harley Davison, at Family Support Services' new building, located at 2209 SW 7th Ave., and at Hoffbrau Steak and Grill House.
