Canandaigua had a Hollywood moment Thursday when Jennifer Garner showed up at the Wegmans on Eastern Boulevard.

The actress wasn’t there as a film star. She visited in her role as co-founder of Once Upon a Farm, a line of organic baby food and children’s snacks, to meet with company representatives, a Wegmans spokesperson said.

Garner, who rose to fame on the ABC action-thriller series “Alias” and has gone on to star in movies as varied as “13 Going on 30,” “Juno” and “Dallas Buyers Club,” did not do a public meet-and-greet at the store, the spokesperson said.

But on Thursday afternoon, news of Garner's visit — and a selfie she took with a fan — made the rounds on Facebook. Reportedly, she spotted a guy in a Buffalo Bills shirt, shouted, "Go, Bills!" and the selfie ensued.

Thursday evening, a Wegmans employee wrote on Facebook about working a special luncheon for Garner and her Once Upon a Farm team, describing the experience as "surreal" and Garner as "funny, kind and compassionate." The post included a photo of Garner with the employee and of the food served at the event.

Garner arrived at the Rochester airport around 5 p.m. Wednesday. Fairport resident Ray Martino spotted her at a baggage carousel while picking up his daughter Olivia Blodgett and her family, who had just flown in from Portland, Oregon.

Martino's granddaughter Clementine Rosemary Blodgett, 5, whom Martino described as very outgoing, struck up a conversation with the film star. The little girl introduced herself and asked Garner what her name was, "She said, 'My name's Jen,'" Martino said.

Martino and his daughter thought Garner looked familiar but couldn't quite place her. I said, "This looks like someone I know," Martino said. But, "You don't see too many celebrities in Rochester. I hate to say it."

However, it didn't take long for them to realize her identity, which she confirmed.

"She was very nice to Clementine" — and to the whole family, Martino said. When he asked her what she was doing in town, "She said, 'I'm just here to do a little business."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, after a nearly 20-year hiatus, Garner will reprise her role of Marvel Comics’ Elektra in “Deadpool 3,” which is scheduled for release on May 3, 2024.

Wegmans, whose organic farm is in Canandaigua, already carries the Once Upon a Farm line, which Garner co-founded in 2018. The following year, it became the first refrigerated baby food available to families eligible for WIC, the federal government’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, Forbes reported.

The brand, whose products include fruit and vegetable blends, smoothies and yogurt, and overnight oats in squeezable pouches, donates a portion of its proceeds to Save the Children.
