This famous California burger joint is opening its first East Coast restaurant near Miami

A famous West Coast burger joint is crossing the Mississippi River for the first time — and opening near Miami.

Parent company CKE Restaurants has announced plans to open its first Carl’s Jr. on the East Coast in Doral, in partnership with RSMG Holding LLC and Retail & Food International Brand.

The menu will feature all the items that have made the brand famous, including its Black Angus Thickburgers as well as chicken tenders and sandwiches.

Chris Bode, chief operating officer of CKE, said the brand is thrilled to be expanding to Florida.

“Carl’s Jr. is known for serving impossible to ignore flavors, so we are excited to bring our iconic brand to South Florida where audacious is a lifestyle and we’re sure to fit in,” he said in a statement. “South Florida is an important part of our growth strategy.”

The Doral restaurant will be the first in a serious expansion into the South Florida market. CKE plans to find real estate partners to open 35 Carl’s Jr. restaurants throughout South Florida. Currently, the brand has more than 1,000 restaurants in the western United States and spots in 35 countries, including more than 300 restaurants in Mexico.

The brand will not reveal the exact location of the first Carl’s Jr. in Doral yet, saying only that it is “near downtown.” It expects to break ground sometime this summer and is planning on opening later this year.
