Christie's has a terrifying new auction. On October 6th, STAN the T. rex is going up for sale. The Tyrannosaurus rex is expected to fetch $6-8 million dollars. (Sept. 16)
- Special doesn't even begin to describe him. What we have coming up for sale on October 6 is the best T-Rex to come to auction in nearly a generation. He's called Stan. And he is one of the most complete-- the most studied T-Rexes out there. They are incredibly rare. You'd be counting the number of comparable Rexes on your fingers.
In terms of his history, let's start right at the beginning, back 67 million years ago when he was walking the earth. He was the apex predator of the late cretaceous. He is 37 foot long and one of the fiercest killing machines that has ever roamed the earth.
So we are anticipating international interest in a T-Rex as important as Stan. Our clients from all over the world will come to Christie's on the 6th of October to bid on him. We've got an estimate of $6 to $8 million on Stan. But he is being offered with no reserve. So absolutely everyone has a shot at him.
As long as everyone maintains the correct social distancing, you will be able to come and have a look at Stan. We've opened up the windows to the gallery in Christie's. And you'll be able to see him 24 hours a day from the street.
