Fan experience at the US Women's Open: What you need to know at Pine Needles

Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club will become the first resort to host a fourth U.S. Women's Open next week when the top women's players in the world come to Southern Pines to tee it up in the 77th edition of the event.

The last Open played here was in 2007. In the 15 years since, plenty has changed. Here's a refresher on what you need to know before you enter Pine Needles.

Can I get US Women's Open tickets?

Daily tickets are still available for Thursday-Saturday, with gallery tickets starting at $20. Weekly gallery ticket packages that allow access Thursday-Sunday are still available for $135.

A flex book package of 10 daily gallery ticket coupons with four that can be used for Tuesday or Wednesday practice rounds and six that can be used for any championship round cost $225.

Tickets can be purchased at usga.org, and patrons are asked to download the US Women's Open app to access those tickets.

Bell Pavilion tickets that offer access to an open-air sports bar are sold out.

Grandstands are located at the 14th, 16th, 17th and 18th greens. Dedicated viewing areas for juniors will offer front-row seats for juniors on the first tee, 18th tee and 18th green.

US Women's Open military tickets

Active and retired military members can request a complimentary gallery ticket plus one for a guest by using an online ticket offer verified through GovX.

How much is a US Women's Open ticket for a child?

The junior ticket policy allows ages 18 and younger to request a complimentary gallery ticket for any day of the event at the ticket office with a ticketed or credentialed adult. The junior doesn't need to be related to the ticket holder.

A maximum of four junior tickets are allowed per ticketed adult.

Junior tickets do not provide access to premium spaces or hospitality areas. Discounted junior tickets can be purchased for those spaces, as available.

US Women's Open parking: Where are lots? Is there a map?

Sandhills Community College will offer general parking at 3395 Airport Road in Pinehurst. Complimentary shuttles will take patrons from the lot to the course. The shuttle ride lasts 10-15 minutes.

From Monday-Sunday, N.C. 22 (Central Drive) will be closed from the intersection at Peed Dee Road to the intersection of Midland Road. Access to this section of N.C. 22 will be limited to local residents.

Can I bring a bag to the US Women's Open?

Purses and/or bags smaller than 6 inches in width, height and diameter in their natural state are allowed.

Clear plastic hand and/or shoulder bags no larger than 12 inches in width, height and diameter in their natural state are also allowed.

Anything larger than those is prohibited.

No backpacks or briefcases are allowed.

Can I bring my cellphone or camera to the US Women's Open?

No cameras are allowed after Wednesday. Cameras are allowed for personal use during Monday-Wednesday practice rounds.

Mobile devices smaller than 7 inches in length and/or height are allowed, but they must be set to silent or vibrate, and flash photography is not allowed.

Phone calls must not be received or placed in any area that might disrupt play.

Other prohibited items at Pine Needles:

  • Weapons of any kind (regardless of permits)

  • Tablets and computers

  • Selfie sticks

  • Noise-producing devices (including portable speakers)

  • Signs, posters or banners

  • Food and beverages (except for medical or infant needs)

  • Containers, coolers, aerosol cans or spray bottles

  • Personal-care items of 3 ounces or less and transparent empty plastic water bottles ARE permitted

  • Pets (except service animals)

  • Lawn chairs, oversized chairs with arms (compact chairs without arms are permitted with no case)

  • Ladders, stepstools or similar items
