This fan-favorite, furry fundraiser is back in the Tri-Cities. We’re not KIDding around
A fan-favorite fundraiser in the Tri-Cities is baa-ck for another season of goat-giving. The Wishing Star Foundation’s popular Send a Friend a Goat Fundraiser has returned for its 18th year.
The Send a Friend a Goat fundraiser is aptly named. For $75, you can follow easy sign-up instructions and have a live baby goat sent to the person of your choosing. Wishing Star will deliver the goat to their office or business when you decide. The goat will be removed after your recipient donates any amount toward the cause. Alternatively, people can pay $100 for goat insurance to prevent any future goat surprises.
Participation is easy. Just go online and fill out the order form with your donation. Before long, a team will deliver the goat to your recipient.
You can goat your friends in Tri-Cities between April 10 and 14. The program heads to Spokane and Kootenai County, Idaho May 8 through May 12.
Wishing Star Foundation
The Wishing Star Foundation serves children ages 3 to 21 with terminal or life-threatening illnesses in Spokane, Tri-Cities and Idaho’s Kootenai County. The foundation grants a wish for each kid, like a trip to DisneyWorld or Hawaii. But after a wish has been granted, Wishing Star continues relationships with the kids, throwing seasonal events and inclusive play options for them.
Wishing Star has served more than 6,300 families and is currently waiting to grant 42 wishes. On average, one wish costs $8,500, according to the foundation.
Goat wranglers
If you want to get more involved with the fundraiser, groups of three can sign up to be volunteer goat wranglers for a day. Goat wranglers deliver goats to recipients, facilitate the goat cuddle sessions and assist with the goat removal process. Teams also compete to see who can collect the most donations.
