Fancy Farm, Kentucky's political roast, is this weekend. Here's the speaker list

Fancy Farm, Kentucky's annual event where politicians try (and try, and try) to roast each other at a church picnic, is upon us.

This year's political speaking event is set to begin at 2 p.m. Central/3 p.m. Eastern Saturday and tends to run for more than two hours.

Every candidate running for statewide office this fall has agreed to speak, which has been rare in recent years, so prepare for a bit of a longer affair this time around. Speakers don't have firm time slots but get anywhere from two to six minutes depending on the importance of their office and whether they're running for office this fall.

Who is speaking at Fancy Farm 2023?

Saturday's political showdown will start with introductory remarks from the organizer, an opening prayer and singings of the National Anthem and "My Old Kentucky Home."

The day's emcee - Kentucky Venues President David Beck - will go next before introducing the political speakers.

The two gubernatorial candidates get to go first:

  • Gov. Andy Beshear - D

  • Attorney General Daniel Cameron - R

Local, state and national lawmakers follow:

  • State Sen. Jason Howell - R

  • State Rep. Richard Heath - R

  • U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell - R (pending)

  • U.S. Rep. James Comer - R

Attention then shifts to the down ballot races for state offices. All statewide candidates have said they plan on attending and speaking at Fancy Farm, and incumbent officials who aren't running this fall also get a chance to speak.

The expected lineup starts with lieutenant governor candidates and moves down the ticket from there:

  • Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman - D - running for lieutenant governor

  • State Sen. Robby Mills - R - running for lieutenant governor

  • Russell Coleman - R - running for attorney general

  • Rep. Pamela Stevenson - D - running for attorney general

  • Auditor Mike Harmon - R

  • Allison Ball - R - running for auditor

  • Kim Reeder - D - running for auditor

  • Secretary of State Michael Adams - R - running for secretary of state

  • Buddy Wheatley - D - running for secretary of state

  • Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles - R

  • Jonathan Shell - R - running for agriculture commissioner

  • Sierra Enlow - D- running for agriculture commissioner

  • Mark Metcalf - R - running for treasurer

  • Michael Bowman - D - running for treasurer
