What has become an annual event for Northeast Ohio returns this weekend at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland as FanExpo Cleveland opens its doors Friday afternoon.

Every year it represents nerdvana for those who have no inkling of what’s happening with the Browns in free agency, the Guardians at spring training or the Cavs in the run-up to the NBA playoffs. But plenty of people who do care about those things also show up.

This year will feature luminaries from movies — Christopher Lloyd, who played Doc Brown in the “Back to the Future” trilogy, will forever qualify as such — and television — Anson Mount (Friday only) and Ethan Peck of "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds." Fans will also rub elbows with voice talent from animated series such as “Transformers” and video games, as well as artists and writers from across the comic book industry.

There will also be those with Northeast Ohio ties on hand, including independent filmmaker Johnny K. Wu of MDI Films and comic book artist and writer Thom Zahler (“Love and Capes”).
