'Blackface vibes': Fans accuse Khloé Kardashian of 'Blackfishing' in recent Instagram post

Khloé Kardashian is under fire after sharing a set of photos that fans are calling a "desperate" attempt to "be Black."

On Wednesday, the "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" alum took to Instagram to share five selfies, promoting a new addition to her Good American collection, a grey tracksuit.

"JUST DROPPED: Shine Essentials. Available in XS-5XL," she captioned the post for her 156 million followers.

While many comments on the reality star's post praised her for looking "absolutely stunning," many also found Kardashian's face to appear different than usual. Some chalked it up to using Photoshop or Facetune, and others accused her of "Blackfishing" by intentionally darkening her skin.

"This is a sad, desperate and offensive attempt to be Black," one user commented.

"She’s not that dark though," one person commented, while another echoed, "Blackface vibes."

"What did she do to her face?" another asked. "At first glance, thought she was Black."

"You ain't that brown, sis," someone else sounded off. "You're so pretty naturally, why so much dark makeup? It's not your natural skin tone."

"Last time I checked, you were Khloé Kardashian, not Rihanna," commented another.

One person pointed out that just because Kardashian's daughter, True, is Black, doesn't give her a free pass to alter her skintone in photos.

"I know that you're insecure. I know it's not easy to be constantly criticized about the way you look. But you have got to stop trying to be everyone but yourself," they wrote. "You aren't Black, you aren't your sisters, you aren't your friends, you are your own person. This constant identity crisis that you seem to be in is a complete and utter cry for help, and I hope you get it. This is not even close to what you actually look like. But what's worse and even more offensive is that you are now trying to appropriate Black culture and features. Please be mindful. Just because your daughter is Black, does not mean you get to pretend to be."

If you have, in fact, been keeping up with the Kardashians, then you know this is not the first time that the 36-year-old has been called out for blackfishing and cultural appropriation. Back in May 2019, the mother-of-one was in hot water for wearing her hair in cornrows while on vacation.

“This is modern minstrel Blackface, how do you not see that perspective?" someone commented. “The hair is inappropriate."

“Black people who have this natural texture in their hair don’t get hired for jobs, kids get sent home from school, etc," someone else chimed in. "That’s what the issue is and why it’s [cultural] appropriation. Until they get treated fairly for their natural features, this will always be #CultureAppropriation and not ever ‘appreciating.’”

"You're not Black, sis," another wrote. "Stop with these hairstyles. It's a mockery."
