Millie Bobby Brown's movie Enola Holmes dropped last fall and it's unlike anything we've seen from her ever before. Millie plays Sherlock Holmes' younger sister who sets out to try to find her mom after she goes missing. But when her other brother, Mycroft, has a different idea for Enola's future, she must try to solve this mystery before it's too late. Not only did Millie star in the film, but she executive produced it as well. If you've already seen Enola Holmes, then no doubt you're absolutely hoping for a sequel. So will Enola Holmes 2 actually happen?

Here's everything you need to know about the Enola Holmes sequel.

*Major spoilers for Enola Holmes below!*

Is an Enola Holmes sequel actually happening?

The ending of the first film kept things pretty open, which left fans itching for a continuation of Enola's story. Netflix just gave Enola Holmes 2 a go, so we're in luck. The movies are based on an already existing book series and there five books total, so there are still plenty more stories based on Enola's life that fans can look forward to if they do decide to do a sequel. The first movie was based off the The Case of the Missing Marquess, while the second novel is called The Case of the Left-Handed Lady.

Has production started yet?

According to a report by UK news outlet SurreyLive, the film has allegedly started filming across two locations: Surrey and Hankley Common. SurreyLive states that a social media post suggested Enola Holmes 2 was filmed at Hankley Common from October 11, 2021 until October 13, 2021. Plus, they have posted photos of "filming" signs on set, so if that's not an indicator of good news, I don't know what is.

On October 19, 2021, People magazine also shared a photo of Millie on set. It's happening, people!

Are any cast members coming back for the sequel?

Leading lady Millie Bobby Brown confirmed that she's coming back as the titular character in an Instagram post on May 13, 2021.

"I can’t wait to collaborate again with my Enola Holmes family! Enola holds a special place in my heart – she’s strong, fearless, intelligent and brave," Millie told Deadline. "I look forward to fans seeing how her journey continues!"

According to Deadline, Millie will also be returning as executive producer alongside Legendary’s Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, Ali Mendes, Paige Brown, Joshua Grode and Michael Dreyer.

Henry Cavill is set to reprise his role as the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes and Variety also reported that Enola's mom, played by Helena Bonham Carter, will also be returning for the sequel. Harry Bradbeer is returning as director and Jack Thorne, who wrote the first film, is writing the script. Harry and Jack are also returning to executive produce the sequel.

At their annual TUDUM fan event on September 25, 2021, Netflix also announced that Louis Partridge is reprising his role as Lord Tewksbury. The streaming service also streamed his return in a TikTok featuring lead actress Millie Bobby Brown.

In the video, Netflix's famous "TUDUM" sound is made with a dark silhouette on a TV screen. Millie asks, "Hello?" to which Louis shows up on screen while lighting a match saying, "'Tis I."

In the past, scene-stealer Louis said that he's ready to come back for another adventure as Lord Tewksbury. He even has some ideas for what might happen to him in the future.

"I would love to come back. I saw somebody commenting on Instagram saying, 'Wouldn't it be cool if we found out that Tewksbury had something to do with Moriarty and he was a villain.' I was like, 'Oh, imagine! That would be a plot twist!' There's so many avenues [we can take it]. It was kept really up in the air about Enola and Tewksbury's relationship. Is it friendship? Is it romance? It's a bit of both love, not solely one thing. Playing around with that and maybe it goes one way or another. I also want Tewksbury to have a little bit of action and to prove himself to be a bit more independent than he was last film," Louis Partridge exclusively told Seventeen.

There's no word on Sam Claflin's return just yet, but here's to hoping!

What would the Enola Holmes sequel be about?

Since the movie would likely follow the second book of the series, it would show Enola trying to crack a new mystery, while also hiding from her two brothers and Inspector Lestrade. According to the book's description:

"Enola Holmes is being hunted by the world's most famous detective — her own brother, Sherlock Holmes. But while she is on the run in the world's biggest, darkest, dirtiest city, she discovers a hidden cache of charcoal drawings and feels as if she is a soul mate to the girl who drew them. But that girl, Lady Cecily, has disappeared without a trace. Braving the midnight streets, Enola must unravel the clues to find this left-handed lady, but in order to save her, Enola risks revealing more than she should. Will she be able to keep her identity a secret and find Lady Cecily, or will the one thing she is trying to save — her freedom — be lost forever?"
