The internet was set abuzz this last weekend after images of Irish actors Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal started circulating from their time at LaLupe, a gay bar in Valladolid, Spain. They allegedly got together to celebrate Scott’s 47th birthday on October 21.

Fans of the talented actors couldn't contain their excitement when the photos hit social media. Comments flooded in, expressing overwhelming joy and surprise.

“I should have been at the bar celebrating with them, life is unfair,” wrote one fan, while another said this “changed the trajectory” of their life.

Observers were also quick to note the duo's impressive physical shape, with Mescal showcasing his toned arms and Scott sporting a white vest.

However, not everyone shared in the excitement about Scott and Mescal's visit to a gay bar, with some individuals upset at the number of straight men already in gay bars.

“There’s already 90% of girls in them and hardly any gay men,” wrote one fan.

Joining the birthday celebrations was Dubliner Fionn O'Shea, who had previously co-starred with Scott in Handsome Devil, a 2016 Irish queer comedy-drama in a boarding school focused on rugby. O'Shea also had a role in Normal People, the mini-series that catapulted Mescal to fame in 2020.

These images emerged simultaneously with the release of additional stills from All of Us Strangers, a new queer film where Scott and Mescal play lovers. The film made its debut at the 50th Telluride Film Festival in Colorado on August 31 and is set to have its Irish premiere at the Belfast Film Festival on November 2, followed by the Cork International Film Festival on Sunday, November 19. The Andrew Haigh-directed feature is scheduled for nationwide release on January 26.
