Fans have mixed reaction about Colorado possibly returning to the Big 12 Conference
I don’t believe it’s physically possible for a buffalo to put its tail between its legs.
But the Colorado Buffaloes may have their metaphorical tails between their legs if they return to the Big 12 Conference. At least that’s according to some fans on Twitter, who had humorous reactions about a possible Big 12-Colorado reunion.
Colorado was a longtime member of the Big 8 and one of the founding schools when the Big 12 Conference was formed in 1996, but it left for the Pac-12 before the 2011 season.
Now it appears Colorado may return to the Big 12. ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported late Wednesday night that Big 12 presidents and chancellors “voted unanimously ... on a conference call to accept Colorado as a new member. Colorado still has not formally applied for Big 12 membership, which is expected to happen tomorrow.”
But tonight’s Big 12 vote marks another necessary step toward Colorado joining the Big 12. Colorado's Board of Regents is expected to vote on the move from the Pac-12 to the Big 12 on Thursday, which is another step toward finalizing the move.

Brett McMurphy of the Action Network reported Colorado will be back in the Big 12 in 2024.
Colorado returning as a “new member” to a conference it left was the subject of jokes on Twitter. Here is a look at what those people were sharing on the social-media channel.
I’m going to enjoy Colorado walking back all the things they said about why the PAC-12 was where they belonged as they crawl back to the Big 12. https://t.co/TNgy1kEvYL

This is easily the funniest possible out come. Colorado kicked off the Big 12 mass-exodus now forced to go back to a depleted Big 12 in significantly worse shape than it was than they left. https://t.co/9o8iWPZ66c

Am i the only person not excited about Colorado joining the big 12? I'm not mad about it either. I just don't get all the excitement. They were already here once. They made their choice. Let them deal with it.
I feel like everyone is only excited bc it sticks it to the pac12— Kevin Riley (@kriley111) July 26, 2023
I love the Big 12. Might be my favorite conference. They were at death's door about five times during my life, and still find ways to stay alive, and even have schools come crawling back. https://t.co/ce4HdjMLPG

Ironically, Colorado jumping the gun in 2010 and moving to the Pac-10 while Texas was mulling the offer destroyed the original Big 12. Now, Colorado moving back could spell the end of the Pac-12. https://t.co/mkpBLxkcGH

While some poked fun at Colorado for returning to the conference it left, others were thrilled to have the Buffaloes back in the Big 12.
This is what those fans were saying.
I would welcome Colorado back to the Big 12. They’re a good geographic fit in a good market.
That said, they deserve some good-natured ribbing for abandoning the conference in 2010, and better stay true to their word this time around.— Tyler Dreiling (@TylerDreiling) July 26, 2023
Welcome home Colorado

I’ve seen the takes on their program success of late, but that legacy scoreboard take is like saying you’d rather invest in the Oakland (Las Vegas?) Athletics than the Chicago Cubs. Malarkey.

My entire family went up to CU for the last away game before they originally left.
Breathtaking stadium.
Thus concludes my thoughts on the matter. I welcome them back. https://t.co/m7SrwOHyG2— Barrett Tomek (@BarrettTomek) July 26, 2023

I’m a wvu fan and this is an incredible move for Colorado. They’ll get nearly 31 million and have much more exposure than they ever would on whatever pac 12 tv ends up being. I’m also excited for a non stop flight to Denver from the gulf coast to see the mountaineers.
