When news of the death of Bob Saget was announced on Sunday, many of his famous friends and former co-stars took to social media to share grief and fond memories of the beloved star.
The comedian, actor and host had a memorable and varied career that reached a large audience and spanned several decades. Some of his memorable roles included Danny Tanner, the affable widow to a household of daughters on the popular sitcom Full House (and the recent reboot Fuller House), hosting America’s Funniest Home Videos, providing the voice of Future Ted on How I Met Your Mother, and touring as stand-up comedian known for his blue humour, amongst many others accomplishments.
While stars like John Stamos, Whoopi Goldberg, Jim Carrey and Norman Lear took to Twitter to express their remorse, fans also shared memories of the comedian on their social media feeds.
Spent many nights and days home sick from school immersing myself in Full House. R.I.P. @bobsaget https://t.co/NeTW4QZcFO

First Norm Macdonald, then Betty White, and now Bob Saget. UNIVERSE STOP TAKING THE FUNNY PEOPLE AWAY. THEY'RE THE ONLY ONES THAT MAKE THIS LIFE BEARABLE

Drummer for the band Guster shared a story about playing Boston on the same night as Saget. They invited him to join them on stage and run through a banner with his name on it, even though they were unsure if he’d be able to make it to the show on time. In true form he did - running through the banner waving to the ecstatic crowd, and leaving immediately after.
I have a Bob Saget story to share.
I never really met him. But in 2007 Guster was playing at the Boston Opera House. We noticed that Saget was performing a sold out show at the Orpheum down the street, and we thought it’d be funny to invite him to appear on stage with us...— Brian Rosenworcel (@Bowl_of_Worcel) January 10, 2022
Victoria Ahearn, an editor at Playback Daily, remembers interviewing the comedian in 2017, in which he told her that Toronto’s Yuk Yuk’s comedy club was an important part of his early career.
I interviewed Bob Saget in 2017 and he said he got his start at Yuk Yuk’s in Toronto when he was 22, with a then-17-year-old Jim Carrey opening for him. 😢

He also spent time in Toronto when he directed the 1998 movie Dirty Work, which starred the late Canadian comedian Norm MacDonald.

Years ago after an event I went to Junior’s with Bob Saget & @JohnLeguizamo. Between all the adoration folks on the street had for Bob & John, a 10 minute walk took 20. Brooklyn reacted like John was their long lost best friend 4ever & Bob was dad arriving home from war.❤️

I'd never given Bob Saget much thought, until I saw him in "The Aristocrats" documentary, where he told the filthiest, most hilarious version of that joke I'd ever heard.

RIP Bob Saget, I had a very long conversation/interview with him a few years ago and he was so generous offering to help me get booked and he very clearly really loved comedy and comedians, a quality I especially admire in someone who was in the game as long as him

obviously, i never knew or met bob saget, but i'll miss him a lot. the work he did on an 80's sitcom probably seemed insignificant to a lot of people, but for me–and probably for a lot of people–it was so important. i'll always remember him.

Many users noted how it felt like America’s Dad was now gone, days after losing America’s grandmother, Betty White.
I was wondering why I was so sad about Bob Saget dying. And I saw a post that made it make sense…
Us 90s kids lost our “grandmother” and “dad” in ten days of each other. Back to Back… that’s a lot. #BobSaget #90s— Kayla Cross (@thinkpink2787) January 10, 2022
After losing America’s grandma, Betty White, and now America’s Dad, Bob Saget, I think someone needs to check on America’s son, Macaulay Culkin.

Bob Saget truly was America's Dad. He was warm and caring on Full House, Silly and whimsical on America's Funniest Home Videos, and an absolute perv (the fun kind) when he was with his adult friends.

Saget was found dead in a hotel room in Orlando, Florida, a day after playing a show in Jacksonville. His cause of death is still not known. He is survived by his wife and three daughters. Saget was 65.
