Fans Rise to Their Feet as 'King' Felix Hernandez Makes Final Appearance for Seattle Mariners

Seattle Mariners pitcher “King” Felix Hernandez received a standing ovation from adoring fans on his final appearance for the franchise as they faced the Oakland A’s at T-Mobile Park on Thursday, September 26.

Hernandez enjoyed an illustrious career with the Mariners, spanning 15 seasons from 2005, when he was just 19 years old. The Venezuela native won the American League Cy Young Award for best pitcher in 2010.

Footage from the game shows Mariners fans, donned in yellow “Forever the King” T-shirts, rising to their feet as Hernandez walks off the mound for the final time.

Unfortunately for Hernandez, the A’s weren’t willing to join in on the festivities. The game finished 3-1 to them. Credit: @mrkellywilson via Storyful
