Grammy award-winning singer and actor Fantasia Barrino delivered an instantly iconic halftime performance during the 50th annual Bayou Classic over Thanksgiving weekend.

According to Bossip, the highly anticipated event was held on Saturday at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, featuring the Southern University Jaguars and the Grambling State University Tigers.

The annual game started in 1932 when both teams battled it out on the field. However, it wasn’t recognized as a ‘Bayou Classic’ until 1974 at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans. Since then, the Tigers and Jaguars formed an HBCU rivalry, and it recently celebrated its 50th anniversary.

As thousands of fans attended the rivalry football game, the halftime show had everyone singing and dancing out of their seats.

Fantasia joined Southern University’s band and performed several classic hits, including “When I See U,” “Free Yourself” and “Lose to Win.” She also sang her rendition of “Overnight Scenario,” the popular go-go song from D.C.-based group Rare Essence.

On Sunday, The Shade Room shared a clip of the singer performing with the school band, and social media users praised Fantasia for her performance and for adding her own flare to the D.C. classic.

“Hol up!! I know she ain’t singin the overnight scenario!!!! Ayeeeees let’s go DMV 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️,” one fan wrote.

“In all my years of DC LIVING, I never heard the “Overnight Scenario” sang like that….. and I’m not mad at it 🤷🏿‍♂️,” another wrote.

“Shout out to Fantasia for her years of consistency and excellence!” a third user wrote.

“Tasia can do no wrong in my eyes! I love this😍” another fan wrote.

The now-viral clip also made its rounds on X, formerly known as Twitter, and fans gave Fantasia her flowers as one of the most legendary R&B singers.

“I love Tasia live. Love her,” one user tweeted.

“Fantasia dancing while wearing stilettos on TURF/GRASS and sounding incredible in a massive echo-y stadium is actually insane. The way our icons are sooooooooo talented 😭,” another wrote.

“Watching Fantasia Barrino shine in the spotlight once again with all these opportunities >>>>>>>>” a third user wrote.
