Fantasy football: A look at the top waiver wire picks heading into Week 12

Sunday's slate of NFL action ended with a wild fourth quarter that had the Chargers and Steelers combine for 41 points, including 27 from a rallying Pittsburgh team that came up short.

Both Ben Roethlisberger and Justin Herbert threw three touchdown passes. Herbert also led Los Angeles with 90 rushing yards.

Austin Ekeler had one of the biggest fantasy games of the week as he scored four touchdowns, two rushing and two receiving, while totaling 115 yards for the Chargers in the Sunday nightcap.

Keenan Allen caught nine passes for 112 yards, and Mike Williams, who had been quiet for a few weeks in a row, had five receptions for 97 yards and the winning score.

Ekeler's performance was outshined only by Jonathan Taylor, the top fantasy scorer for the week. Taylor had an unbelievable day for the Colts, rushing for 185 yards and four scores. He added a fifth touchdown on a reception.

Aaron Rodgers matched Herbert's performance as a passer by throwing for 385 yards and four touchdowns, including two to Davante Adams.

Justin Jefferson had the biggest week for wide receivers, catching eight passes for 169 yards and two scores. After Jefferson and Adams, there were surprising fantasy leaders at the position. Rookie Elijah Moore, Darnell Mooney, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Marquise Goodwin all had surprisingly good performances.

On the other end of the spectrum, Dak Prescott, Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, CeeDee Lamb and Michael Pittman all disappointed fantasy managers.

Here's a look at some names that should be available on the waiver wire heading into Week 12:

Elijah Moore, WR, Jets: He's still available in a lot of leagues despite scoring three weeks in a row. Moore caught eight passes for 141 yards and scored against the Dolphins. He has four touchdowns over the last three weeks.

Michael Gallup, WR, Cowboys: Amari Cooper will miss the Thanksgiving game, and Lamb's status is unknown as he suffered a concussion Sunday. Gallup caught five passes for 44 yards in the loss to the Chiefs, and he stands to see an increase of targets.

Cam Newton, QB, Panthers: I waited until it was clear he'd start before suggesting him as a player to pick up. He threw for just 189 yards but was efficient with two TD passes on 21-of-27 passing. Newton also rushed for 46 yards and added a score on the ground.

Tevin Coleman, RB, Jets: The Jets take on the Texans in Week 12, and if Michael Carter can't play through his hurt ankle, Coleman is likely to get more touches. He had five rushes for 16 yards Sunday.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, WR, Packers: His third week back from injury turned out to be the charm. He caught four of his season-high 10 targets for 123 yards and a touchdown. Something to watch for is his involvement over the next few weeks, because he gets to face the same Vikings during fantasy championship week.

Marquise Goodwin, WR, Bears: The speedster caught four passes for 104 yards, including a 49-yard touchdown. With the Bears playing on Thanksgiving, Allen Robinson might sit again before coming back from a hamstring injury.

Cedrick Wilson, WR, Cowboys: It makes sense to add him if both Cooper and Lamb miss the Thanksgiving game. Wilson caught four passes for 36 yards and has proved he can produce when given the opportunity.

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, WR, Titans: Julio Jones is still out and Westbrook-Ikhine caught seven passes for 107 yards against the Texans. A.J. Brown also got hurt in the surprising loss to the Texans, and if he's out or limited, Westbrook-Ikhine's value increases.

Adam Trautman, TE, Saints: He was supposed to be good from the beginning, but he had an extremely slow start to the season. Trautman is on a roll now, though. He's been targeted at least six times in four straight games. He had five catches for the second week in a row and scored Sunday. He gained a season-high 58 yards.

Rex Burkhead, RB, Texans: You don't want to typically go after a Houston running back, but Burkhead had 18 rushes Sunday on the way to 40 yards in an upset win. That's not great production, but if he gets that many opportunities against the Jets in Week 12, he could be a lot better.

Trevor Siemian, QB, Saints: He's a decent option to place on your bench as he's thrown at least two touchdown passes in three straight games. He has a tough matchup against the Bills in Week 12, but after that he could be set up nicely.

Texans defense/special teams: Houston has six sacks, six interceptions and four fumble recoveries over the past two games and will face the Jets in Week 12.
