New farm-to-fork food truck coming into East Texas in February

BULLARD, Texas (KETK) – Hood Family Farms in Bullard is branching out by bringing their food to tables around East Texas.

Sara and Jimmy Youmans, have created a farm to fork experience for East Texans with their Hood Family Farms food truck.

“We want to use real, whole ingredients to serve healthy food, it’s kind of a testament that real food can be delicious and good for you, at the same time,” Sara said.

From sheep, chickens and produce grown on the farm, Sara and Jimmy said this idea is bringing everything full circle.

“To watch it grow and be able to then create something out of it, it’s just a very unique and fun experience,” Jimmy said.

The Youmans said they have enjoyed the process of creating every recipe along the way.

“Get people out of their comfort zone, you know, like make them try a combination they wouldn’t have thought of before, like green beans on a club sandwich or microgreens on their breakfast taco,” Sara said.

With the farm-to-fork concept, every ingredient is either grown or raised on the farm or brought in from other local businesses.

“We are partnering with a coffee producer that roasts locally, so things like that, we were working with Sola Bread, we’re working with Red Moon Farm for organic, seasonal produce,” Sara said.

The food truck still has a few steps left before they can open, but the Youmans said they are already hearing from the community.

“Based on the response we’ve gotten so far, everybody’s super, super excited to be able to eat local like prepared food, not just buy local, but eat local,” Sara said.

Hood Family Farms hopes to begin offering their farm-to-fork food on Feb.10 at the Rose City Farmers Market in Tyler. Once the food trailer is open, they plan to be stationed at the new Xchange food truck park in Tyler.
