Father's Day is right around the corner. Every year, it's easy to fall back on a barbecue roundup. And, let's be honest, a lot of dads love barbecue. But, when making this year's Father's Day dining roundup, I was sure to include restaurants of all sorts. Because, hey, maybe your dad loves escargot.

French Mediterranean restaurant La Boheme is an airy, open bistro, decked with limestone floors, white-painted brick walls, French bistro chairs, white marble tables and lots of greenery. Uptown Cafe moved into the space that had housed Stray Cat Brew for the past five years. Owner Mariel Harkin said the cafe offers 100 different hot and iced coffee drinks, so odds are good you'll find something to sip. And soon, Harkin plans to offer food too, including Balthazar baked goods, vegan donuts and banana bread, and Rice Crispy treats, the latter two baked by her mom, Maria Harkin.

Soma, a Japanese restaurant with an emphasis on sushi, can seat 100, eight at its sushi bar. The chefs expertly slicing the fish and cooking the rice are veteran sushi pros Yoji Soshiro, formerly with Sushi of Gari, and Ishihara Matsuzaki, ex-Nobu, both in Manhattan. Acclaimed chef Tom Valenti, who has worked at some of the best restaurants in New York City, will take over the kitchen at Jockey Hollow Kitchen & Bar in Morristown in mid-July. Valenti, who lives in Byran Township, is a former chef of seminal French restaurant Le Cirque and was the first sous chef at New American standout Gotham Bar & Grill, both in Manhattan.

David Alan, owner of David Alan Caterers, was inspired to revamp his event space by the rise of microweddings. The room has been changed from an all-white 50s-style to what Alan calls “farmhouse glam," semi-inspired on his love of HomeGoods' decor.
