FarmHouse Brewery in Owego to close: When you can get your last pint at popular tap room

The FarmHouse Brewery in Owego, one of the first licensed New York State Farm Brewers, is set to close for good this weekend.

The brewery is closed this week, but will reopen for its final two nights on Friday and Saturday, according to a post on its Facebook page.

"I have done a lot of different things in my life and running a brewery has definitely been my favorite thing I have done professionally," owner Marty Mattrazzo posted on his Facebook page Tuesday. "However, after 2 years of no and flagging sales has left us with no more options but to close."

The barn-like red brewery opened in 2014 on George Street before moving to 17 Lake St. To obtain the state's brewery license, it had to produce beverages with a certain percentage of hops and barley grown in-state. It also operates a second location in Victor in Ontario County, which will also close.

"We're not just your local brewery," Mattrazzo told the Press & Sun-Bulletin/presssconnects.com after the brewery opened. "We use local ingredients, so when you're buying from us, you're also paying farmers. Our grain, our hops, they come from local New York farmers."

In addition to beer, the brewery also sold baked goods, jams, jellies, soaps, and other craft items from local artisans.

"I would like to thank everyone who has supported us over the years," Mattrazzoposted on Facebook. "To that end, we will be closed this week, opening for the final two days this Friday and Saturday. I look forward to one (OK two) last chance to share a pint with you all this weekend."

According to the brewery website, the FarmHouse is open noon to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
