Fat Patty's under new ownership

Jan. 5—Fat Patty's locations across the tri-state area are set to remodel and add more items to the menu this year.

Scott Wamsley and Jeremy Wright, Fat Patty's owners, have purchased all four locations of the restaurant franchise — in Ashland, Barboursville, Huntington, and Teays Valley. Wamsley told The Daily Independent that new menu items, an updated look and expansion to other cities is on the horizon.

"We are going to revamp the menu — gonna keep a lot of the same popular menu items, but we're also rolling out some really cool burgers and different things," Wamsley said. "On top of rolling out a menu which will come out this spring we are also looking at opening some additional locations, somewhere in the Paintsville, Prestonsburg area, and Morgantown (West Virginia) area.

"We feel it's a perfect model, a perfect brand to do that," he added. "While the changes to downtown Ashland are scaring people away in short term, in the long term we feel like it's going to be beneficial and a great location."

Wamsley, who also manages 11 different Subway franchises and a Giovanni's in Catlettsburg, said a goal has been set at adding four locations in the next two years — two this year and two in 2025.

He said, "You will see some new decor. We will be sticking with the Fat Patty's green that it has always been known for, but a lot more modern look coming to the insides of these restaurants. By spring it's going to be a very modern, exciting feeling in there.

"We are really trying to take this brand and make it a franchise-able scale-able brand where we can just pick it up and move it to several different locations."

Wamsley said he and Wright have ties within in the community and have a common goal of bringing customers a great dining experience.

"We are local Ashland guys," Wamsley said. "I help coach the Ashland High School baseball team; my kids go to Blazer. We are very tied into the local community. Same with Jeremy, he's from here in Ashland, his daughter goes to a local Ashland school. We are very invested in seeing this be a vital place for our community

"We also think that we can grow this in other markets and have that same success and bring everyone a great dining experience."
