Fat Tuesday is coming. Here's where to get your fastnachts
Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent, is almost upon us. And in Pennsylvania, that means one thing.
It's fastnacht time.
Bakeries across the state are frying up thousands of the potato-based yeast doughnuts in anticipation of high demand.
Fastnachts come plain or covered in powered sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon sugar or glaze. Some bakeries, like Lochel's in Hatboro, even offer a stuffed version.
