Fatal crash on I-95 in Greenland: 92-year-old Maine man identified as victim

GREENLAND — A 92-year-old man has been identified by New Hampshire State Police as the victim of a fatal crash last week on Interstate 95 northbound.

Frank Belskis, a resident of Rumford, Maine, was killed in the late-night crash Monday, May 30 after a tractor-trailer struck the sedan he was operating, according to police.

The crash occurred around 11:30 p.m. around mile marker 11 and forced the closure of the right two lanes of Interstate 95 for several hours as responding agencies investigated, police said.

Belskis was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was declared deceased at the scene. The operator of the tractor-trailer was not injured, police said.

In Portsmouth: Body found near railroad tracks. Criminal activity not suspected.

A New Hampshire State Police spokesperson noted Wednesday no charges have been filed and the crash remains under investigation.

State police previously reported Belskis possibly parked the sedan in the highway’s right travel lane with its lights on at the time it was struck by the tractor-trailer. Neither speed nor alcohol were suspected to be contributing factors in this collision.

Members of Greenland’s police and fire departments assisted New Hampshire State Police at the scene of the crash.
