Fatal crash: Bucyrus woman killed in two-vehicle collision on Ohio 4 north of city

A Bucyrus woman was killed and another was injured Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle crash north of the city.

Latoya Griffea, 34, Bucyrus, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Ohio 4 south of Lemert Road, according to a news release from the Crawford County Sheriff's Office. The fatal crash was reported at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Griffea was northbound on Ohio 4 in a 2006 Buick Lucerne when she drove left of center, overcorrected and lost control, according to the news release. Her vehicle struck a southbound 2014 Ford Flex driven by Vanessa Lambert, 28, Bucyrus. Both vehicles went off the east side of the road.

Griffea was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. Grant Hope, assistant Crawford County coroner. Lambert was flown to Mercy Health-St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo by Life Flight, according to the news release.

In addition to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, emergency crews from Liberty, Chatfield, Lykens township fire departments; Life First EMS; and Bucyrus Fire Department EMS responded to the scene, according to the release. The Ohio Department of Transportation was called to close the road and set up detours. Lemaster’s Towing removed both vehicles from the scene.

This crash remains under investigation.
