Update: Lanes reopen after fatal crash on Highway 50 in El Dorado Hills, authorities say

A fatal collision closed westbound lanes of Highway 50 for about three hours early Thursday morning in El Dorado Hills, authorities said.

The crash was reported shortly after 4:15 a.m. near El Dorado Hills Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol’s online activity log. The coroner’s office was dispatched around 4:45 a.m. for at least one fatality, the log shows.

The CHP reported all lanes were back open just before 7:30 a.m. Caltrans in earlier tweets reported all westbound traffic on Highway 50 was blocked at the El Dorado Hills Boulevard/Latrobe Road ramps. Eastbound lanes remained open.

No other details about the deadly crash were immediately available, but CHP log entries from minutes earlier on a nearby stretch of Highway 50 suggest the incident may have involved a wrong-way driver.
