Lambertville woman dies in Route 31 crash in East Amwell

EAST AMWELL - A Lambertville woman died following a serious motor vehicle crash on Route 31 southbound Wednesday, New Jersey State Police reported.

The crash was reported about 12:39 p.m. on State Highway 31 southbound at milepost 15, according to New Jersey State Police.

A police monitoring service indicated the crash occurred in the area of Rocktown Hill Road.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a Freightliner was traveling north on State Highway 31 and a Toyota was traveling south on State Highway 31. The Freightliner entered the southbound lanes and collided with the Toyota, state police said.

Qaneta A. Zaafar, an 80-year-old woman, and the driver of the Toyota sustained fatal injuries.

State troopers are investigating the fatal crash. The investigation is ongoing.
