Somerset police said the crash occurred around 1:15 a.m. near the Route 103 rotary. When first responders arrived on-scene, they found a motorcycle and a vehicle with two victims lying in the road.

DeForitis is believed to have been the passenger on the motorcycle.

Gregg Miliote, spokesman for the Bristol County District Attorney's Office, said the motorcycle's driver was Daniel Glover, 44, of South Easton.

Glover was pronounced dead on the scene. Somerset police said DeForitis was taken by Somerset EMS to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead; the vehicle's driver was also hospitalized out of an abundance of caution.

Police said the preliminary investigation suggests that the motorcycle entered the rotary in the wrong direction, colliding with the vehicle.

Miliote said no charges will result from the accident.

Seekonk Police said DeForitis graduated from the Cape Cod Municipal Police Academy in 2021 and had been an officer for just under three years.

"Since that time, she has been assigned to the Patrol Division and was outstanding in her various roles as a community outreach officer," the post reads. "Kourtny had a particular fondness for the youth of Seekonk and could be found playfully interacting with them in the schools and at community events, usually with a bright smile on her face and a contagious laugh."
