Fatal shooting at Des Moines apartment complex is city's 14th homicide of 2022

A man has died after being shot Wednesday afternoon at an apartment complex on the south side of Des Moines.

Police officers and medics responded around 3:10 p.m. to the shooting in the 4200 block of Park Avenue, Des Moines police spokesperson Sgt. Paul Parizek said in a news release.

Bystanders transported the injured man, who has not yet been identified, from the scene, Parizek said. Authorities located the injured man in the 2300 block of Park Avenue and he was taken by Des Moines emergency responders to a local hospital, where he died.

Detectives are still investigating the shooting, which is the 14th homicide in Des Moines this year.
