A 29-year-old Santa Clarita woman was killed and two other people were seriously injured after a head-on crash on Highway 126 east of Santa Paula Wednesday morning.

The collision was reported around 8:35 a.m. on the highway, also called Telegraph Road, near the cross with Boosey Road, said California Highway Patrol Officer Jorge Alfaro.

The woman had been a passenger in a 2018 Honda Civic headed westbound on the 126. A 35-year-old Santa Clarita man was driving.

For reasons under investigation, the Honda drove into oncoming traffic on the eastbound side, Alfaro said. The car struck, head-on, a 1999 Ford F-150 pickup truck being driven by a 44-year-old Fillmore man.

The woman's name was not immediately released pending notification of kin.

The two survivors were taken by ambulance to Ventura County Medical Center with major injuries. Firefighters had extricated the patients from the wreckage. An update on their conditions was not available as of early afternoon

Two other drivers in separate vehicles collided with debris but were not injured.

The incident closed lanes of the 126 for hours. All lanes had reopened by 11 a.m.

The roadway was wet, Alfaro said, but it wasn't immediately known whether rainy weather was a factor. Alcohol and drugs were not considered factors, Alfaro said.

The crash remains under investigation. Witnesses are asked to call the CHP's Ventura office at 805-662-2640.

Separately, a crash in Thousand Oaks turned deadly late Wednesday morning. The two-vehicle accident was reported around 10:45 a.m. on southbound Highway 23 at Olsen Road.
