Columbia's spring and early-summer concert schedule is rounding into form, especially with a number of outdoor shows being added to the docket. Here are some of the most recent announcements.

April 5: Laura Jane Grace at The Blue Note

Rising to rock 'n' roll power at the front of modern punks Against Me!, Grace has established her identity as a solo artist on recent releases that bridge the spirit of that sound and style with other strains of rock and folk. Weakened Friends shares the bill. Tickets are $25-$40. Visit https://thebluenote.com/ for more information.

April 6: Houndmouth at Rose Park

Let's hope early April showers stay away when these Roots N Blues (now named Treeline Music Fest) favorites bring their charismatic rock sound to the Summerfest concert series. Houndmouth played one of the fest's most consistent sets last fall. Tickets are $25 to $30. Visit https://rosemusichall.com/ for more.

May 13: Bright Eyes at Rose Park

Indie trailblazer Conor Oberst brings his crew to town for an outdoor Summerfest date. Setting the stage for a generation of songwriters, Oberst's work marries an aching vulnerability with a more righteously caustic sort of commentary. The band's latest, "Down in the Weeds, Where the World Once Was" hit in 2020, with the "Companion" series of reissued and re-recorded earlier material following suit. Tickets are $35-$40.

May 20: David Wax Museum at Rose Park

Columbia native Wax, and his wife and musical partner Suz Slezak, unite the spirit of all manner and means of folk music to create something colorful, earnest and thoughtful. Tickets are $17-$20.

June 1: Here Come the Mummies at Rose Park

Another band of Roots N Blues veterans, these players live out their name by getting all wrapped up in a gimmicky look, but there's nothing trite about the pop-funk they deliver. Tickets are $22 to $30 and go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.

Aug. 20: The Head and the Heart, Father John Misty outside The Blue Note

In what appears to be the summer calendar's true high point, indie-folk heroes The Head and the Heart will team up with one of our great songwriters — and something of a rock antihero — Father John Misty for a Summerfest blowout. Miya Folick will share the bill. Tickets are $50-$55 and go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.
