Father of K-Pop Star Samuel Killed at His Home in Mexico

Jose Arredondo, the father of K-pop star Samuel, was found dead at his home in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. He was 60.

Local investigators told the AP that Arredondo had been beaten to death but his pastor told Bakersfield.com that he died from stab wounds.

Tribunal de Los Cabos, a local media outlet, reported that Arredondo was found "laying on the floor with several wounds caused by a knife in the back."

A U.S. State Department official confirmed the death of a U.S. citizen to the Associated Press, saying, "We are closely monitoring local authorities' investigation into the cause of death."

There are no suspects at this time, according to authorities.

Arredondo was well-known in the Bakersfield area as the owner of Family Motors Auto Group.

Samuel Kim Arredondo, who performs under the name Samuel, was born in Los Angeles while his father was from Mexico and his mother from Korea.

He was part of the music duo 1Punch before he went solo in 2017. He also appeared on a number of reality shows, including the second season of "Produce 101."

Before he became a K-pop star, Samuel appeared in local car commercials for his father's dealership.
