Three people are dead after a Melbourne man shot his daughter and adult grandson before killing himself at the family’s home Wednesday morning, according to the Melbourne Police Department.

Officers were called to the residence on the 2400 block of Forest Run Drive around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday after multiple people reported hearing gunshots coming from the house, an agency spokesperson said.

MPD Lt. Shawn Eising said one of the calls reporting the shooting came from inside the home. Three generations of the same family live at the residence, he said.

During a press conference Wednesday afternoon, Eising said investigators believe family patriarch Stephen Hewson shot his daughter Nicole Miller and her son Zerric Miller before killing himself before police arrived.

Hewson and Zerric Miller were pronounced dead at the scene. Nicole Miller was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center, where she later died, Eising said.

The shooting is still under investigation. MPD asked anyone with information on the incident to call Detective Jennifer Frost at 321-608-6459 or Crimeline at 800-423-8477.
