Father and son plan to open hemp dispensary in Willoughby next month

Oct. 16—Bryan Sanshuck and his son, Tanner, have talked about opening a business together for many years.

And now, they are on schedule to open up a hemp dispensary in downtown Willoughby.

A grand opening ceremony is currently scheduled for Nov. 11 at the former My Mindful Market Store site, located at 4128 Erie St., according to the city. Store hours will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.

"We filled out an occupancy permit and received it, and our sign company will be going to the historic society to get that approved, which is being worked on now, but other than that, everything else is ready to go," said Bryan, a longtime Willoughby resident. "We have stores in Pittsburgh and we're bringing the concept to Ohio. We plan on opening 10 stores in the next 12 months."

The hemp dispensary is intended to have a zen, relaxing atmosphere for customers, as well as have plants, artwork and water features.

"Our motto is always come by and visit, and see what the buzz is all about," Bryan said, noting that all of the stores' products are third-party tested. Lab reports will also be available with each product to follow the guidelines set forth by the 2018 Farm Bill.

"The Farm Bill allows us to sell products that you normally couldn't," Bryan said.

Being a wellness-oriented business is the avenue both Bryan and Tanner want to take.

"We've seen so many places where that doesn't feel like their main mission, Tanner said. "That's what we're trying to bring to the table. Things just kind of fell into place recently and we decided downtown Willoughby would be the best spot. We love the neighborhood and the historic aspect. People are kind and we've had a good experience being here."

The stores' inventory will consist of tinctures, creams, topicals, water solubles, vape cartridges, disposables, loose flower, pre rolls, capsules and concentrates. There will also be products for pets.

Since being in business, customers have ranged from being young adults to senior citizens, Bryan said.

"Our employees make us who we are," he said. "They're educating and helping people. Customer service and the knowledge of your products is what will make you stand by yourself."
