FAU’s offensive line rounding into form; season-opener against Georgia Southern moved to ESPN

FAU’s offensive line has the tough task of replacing Junior Diaz and Brandon Walton, the Owls' starting center and left tackle, respectively, from last season.

And with a week before the team’s season-opener at Georgia Southern on Sept. 19, FAU offensive line coach Jeff Norrid is liking the Owls chances of doing so without a hitch.

"Usually not having spring football at all concerns you that the lack of fundamental development is going to be an issue, but I’ve actually been really impressed with how much carryover they had since our last game in December,” Norrid said. "They’ve really done a great job working on their own over the summer. They showed up in fall camp with a sense of urgency. I’ve been impressed with bow guys have stepped up and taken a lead.”

Among those who Norrid says has stepped up is redshirt junior Nick Weber. After being the team’s starting right guard in 2019, Weber is poised to be the Owls' starting center and the "quarterback of the offensive line.”
