My Favorite Room ... with Kathleen Reynolds

Isn't it funny how a room refresh can turn the most awkward of spaces into one of the most loved?

This one previously served as both a guest bedroom and a home office, but having a bed in the middle of Zoom meeting backgrounds was a little problematic.

Enter Kathleen Reynolds and her ability to bring design and function together.

Custom cabinets and shelving serve as home for a beloved record collection, as this once awkward space was turned into a dedicated study.

And just in case an occasional guest needs to stay the night, a sleeper sofa provides that option while giving a much more professional appearance for work meetings.

3 Tips to recreate this look in your home:

  1. Don’t be afraid to use color as a neutral. Blues and greens are great for a pop of color but earthy enough to feel neutral.

  1. Utilize bookshelf space to display a variety of items - use smaller items to balance out the bulkiness of books.

  1. Think outside of the box for lighting. In this room sconces were added to the inside of the custom bookcases. While it might seem unconventional, it was a huge space-saver and gives great ambient lighting.
