New in the Fayetteville area: Restaurants, food trucks, grocery store and a cocktail bar

The Fayetteville-area food scene is off to a busy start this year.

Among the January openings in Fayetteville were a wholesale grocery and kitchen supply store, a vegan restaurant, a speakeasy-style bar, two food trucks and a fast-food stop. Hope Mills saw the openings of a chicken wing chain and a Mexican eatery.

Here’s a look at the latest.

Open: Archives

Archives cocktail bar, which opened Jan. 17, brings a speakeasy vibe to Fayetteville’s historic Haymount neighborhood.

There’s no sign out front, nor much of an online presence nor a phone number. And we can’t tell you exactly where it is.

Owner Josh Choi, who also owns Winterbloom downtown, said that the new hangout is off-grid, and he wants locals to come find it. Once you do, you’re rewarded with an elegant space to drink classic cocktails.

Business hours are 3 p.m. to midnight Wednesday through Saturday.

Open: Wingstop

Wingstop opened its second Cumberland County location in early January. Located at 3065 Hope Mills Road, the Hope Mills outpost of the aviation-themed chicken chain serves wings of varying heat levels tossed in such sauces as barbecue, garlic parmesan and Hawaiian, and accompanied by dipping sauces of ranch, blue cheese or honey mustard. Sides include fries, corn on the cob and celery and carrot sticks.

Customers can order food for delivery, carryout, or dine-in at wingstop.com or on the Wingstop app. Business hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.

Open: Shae’s Confections

Shae’s Confections, a new dessert food truck, hit the road earlier this month. The menu reads like a cross between a bakery and the county fair: pound cake by the slice, mini cakes, cinnamon rolls, red velvet brownies, funnel cakes, fried Oreos and fried cheesecake bites are all on the menu, as well as specialty lemonades, coffee and hot chocolate.

The food truck is a regular at Haymount Truck Stop, 100 Broadfoot Ave. Hours and locations vary. Visit facebook.com/shaesconfections for updated information.

Open: Bethel Haitian Cuisine

Fayetteville food truck Bethel Haitian Cuisine opened late last year, but just recently started holding a regular schedule, said Kieffer Bruny, who owns the restaurant with his father, Joseph Bruny.

The father-and-son duo typically serve Caribbean-style dishes like oxtail, jerk chicken and red beans and rice from the parking lot at Fit For Life, 210 Owen Drive, or from a parking lot at 4800 Bragg Blvd. from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Hours and locations vary. Visit instagram.com/bethelhaitiancuisine/ for updated information.

Open: Hardee’s

Hardee’s opened its newest Fayetteville location Monday at 8139 Cliffdale Road. The opening comes about a year after the franchise closed a store at Skibo and Raeford roads.

The new location at Montibello Shopping Center has a smaller dining room than a typical Hardee’s. It has a double drive-thru lane and employs about 50 people.

Customers can order pickup and delivery at Hardees.com or on the Hardee’s app. Business hours are 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.
