Fayetteville City Council candidate forums set for this week. Here's what to know.
Two Fayetteville City Council candidate forums are scheduled this week in Fayetteville.
The Fayetteville branch of the NAACP is hosting a forum for Fayetteville municipal candidates from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Cumberland County Headquarters Library, 300 Maiden Lane, according to a news release from the NAACP.
The event is sponsored by the Cumberland County Retired School Personnel, the Fayetteville Chapter of NOW and the Fayetteville Area Section of the National Council of Negro Women.

At 6 p.m. Thursday, a nonpartisan forum for the Fayetteville mayor and City Council races will be held at Smith Recreation Center, 1520 Slaver Ave., according to a news release from Organizing Against Racism: Cumberland County.
All candidates for mayor and City Council have been invited to the event, which is in partnership with Common Cause NC, Cape Fear Indivisible and Fayetteville Freedom for All. It will be moderated by Rob Taber, an associate professor of history at Fayetteville State University. Light refreshments will be provided.

On the ballot in Fayetteville
The mayor and all nine council seats are on the ballot. Here's who is running:
Mayor: Incumbent Mitch Colvin faces Freddie de la Cruz.
District 1: Incumbent Kathy Jensen faces Alex Rodriguez.
District 2: Incumbent Shakeyla Ingram faces Malik Davis.
District 3: Incumbent Mario Benavente faces Michele Dillon.
District 4: Incumbent D.J. Haire faces Stuart Collick.
District 5: Incumbent Johnny Dawkins faces Lynne Bissette Greene.
District 6: Incumbent Derrick Thompson is unopposed.
District 7: Incumbent Brenda McNair is unopposed.
District 8: Incumbent Courtney Banks-McLaughlin is unopposed.
District 9: Incumbent Deno Hondros faces Fredlisha Lansana.
