Fayetteville man charged in stabbing death of his brother

A Fayetteville man was arrested Friday in the stabbing death of his brother, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

Derelle Allen Viera, 32, is charged with voluntary manslaughter in the death of Gerald Unique Viera, 32. The stabbing allegedly occurred during a family altercation at the 2300 block of Lake Avenue on July 15, a news release said.

Gerald Viera died outside the gates of the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center on Ramsey Street about 4:30 a.m., police said according to the release. Viera was brought to the center by a friend after the stabbing, officers said.

Derelle Viera was arrested at his home on the 2500 block of Rim Road and is being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center with bail set at $150,000, the release said.
