Fayetteville teen's robbery charges include one instance in which someone was shot in the arm

A Fayetteville teen jailed last week in a series of armed robberies in the city is accused, among other things, of shooting an employee during one of the November heists, court records show.

Diquarius Megale Roderick McKoy, 19, of Fayetteville, is charged with nine counts of second-degree kidnapping and three counts each of robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of stolen goods and one count each of assault with a deadly weapon, attempted robbery and discharging a weapon in robberies at Waffle House, Family Dollar and Exxon gas station and the attempted robbery of Logan's Roadhouse, records show.

He was arrested at the Fayetteville Police Department on Dec. 5, according to an arrest report. He remained in the Cumberland County jail Wednesday without bail.

In each case, the robber was wearing a gray mask and a hooded sweatshirt and carried a revolver, records show.

Logan's Roadhouse robbery

McKoy's arrest came six days after a gunman confronted an employee on the patio of Logan's Roadhouse on Skibo Road about 10:30 p.m. Nov. 29.

After forcing the waitress back inside, the robber demanded money and ordered the waitress and three other employees to the front of the restaurant. As the group was heading toward the front, one attempted to run and the gunman fired a shot.

Three employees then ran out the front door, while the fourth ran through the kitchen and out the back door and toa nearby Cracker Barrell to call 911. The robber was last seen leaving through the patio door, the victims told police.

Once outside, one of the employees realized he had been hit in the arm with a pellet from the revolver, the record states. He was not seriously injured.

The incident was captured on restaurant surveillance cameras, according to the charging document, and police recovered pellets "consistent with pest control shotshell ammo which can be loaded into a revolver," the warrant said.

Exxon robbery

About 24 hours before the Logan's Roadhouse robbery, an employee at an Exxon gas station on Murchison Road said a customer walked to the counter with a bag of chips about 11 p.m. on Nov. 28.

When she went to ring him up, the record states, the robber produced a handgun and demanded money. After receiving $292, he exited the gas station and crossed Murchison Road.

Police brought in a tracking dog that tracked the robber's scent to an area near a vape store and the following day, learned the suspect had used a credit card to purchase an item there after the robbery.

Family Dollar robbery

On Nov. 22, according to the reports, two employees said a man entered the Family Dollar on Person Street multiple times shortly after 8:30 p.m. and put a pair of headphones on the counter as if to purchase them. When the employee began the transaction, the man produced a revolver, demanded cash and began to count down from five, the record states.

The frightened female employees put the cash into a bag and handed it to the gunman, who then left the store.

The charging document said video surveillance showed the suspect hovering around the register before the robbery and, at one point, it looked as if he was going to draw a weapon but stopped when a customer entered.

Waffle House robbery

According to the charging documents, the first in this string of robberies was about 7:15 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Waffle House on Yadkin Road. A masked man walked into the restaurant and said he was going to place a to-go order, then when an employee went to take the order, the customer pulled a revolver. The gunman then told the employee to call another worker in the back to come to the front and put her phone down.

When the woman saw what was happening, she put her hands in the air and asked the robber to not hurt them. The bandit left with the $276 from the register. He was last seen running from the Waffle House into the Walmart parking lot toward Hook & Reel restaurant, the record states.
