Fayetteville’s Methodist University was the only school in North Carolina named last month as one of the 10 “must-watch”  North American colleges and universities in 2022 by Higher Education Digest, an independent higher education magazine.

“MU is honored to be featured on this well-respected list,” said Minnu Paul, director of MU’s Global Education. “This ranking solidifies the fact that we are a globalized campus.”

Methodist University was among just six U.S. schools on the list alongside Oklahoma State, San Diego State and three others.

The recognition points to a number of MU’s successes and attractions, including its thriving city atmosphere, MU’s designation as the No. 1 most diverse university in North Carolina, the school’s more than 80 types of undergraduate and graduate programs, and its ranking in the top 16% nationally for overall economic mobility.

The Higher Education Digest recognition also touches on why Methodist University — home to students from more than 50 countries and six continents — is known as one of the top institutions for international students.

According to a news release, "MU provides a dedicated Global Education staff who can support international students’ unique social and financial needs." The Higher Education Digest article also highlights the university’s Campus Engagement Office and One Stop, MU's academic support career advising center, as additional staff resources for international students.

“Plus, non-international staff and people in the Fayetteville community are welcoming and supportive of international students,” said Paul. “They donate in kind, monetarily, they pick up students from the airport, and they provide a home away from home in various ways.”
